November always brings memories of my sister, Janet. This was her birthday month, and though she left us too soon, her spirit feels close, especially now. There’s a phrase she and I would say to each other—“How Hard Can It Be?”—an invitation to embrace life’s challenges with both grit and a twinkle in our eyes. To this day, it’s a philosophy I carry with me. When faced with something unfamiliar or daunting, I find myself smiling, thinking of her, and diving in with that same fearless spirit.
This month, I invite you to adopt “How Hard Can It Be?” in your own way. Step into new realms of possibility with curiosity and courage, keeping those we love and lost close to our hearts as we move forward.

This week’s blog explores embracing change with a courageous mindset backed by the supportive power of essential oils. As we navigate life’s ups and downs, each oil provides its own unique gift—whether it’s grounding, calming, or offering a gentle boost of clarity.
Here’s a snapshot:
Adopting a Mindset of “How Hard Can It Be?”: Change often feels challenging, especially when old fears or doubts hold us back. By asking ourselves, “How hard can it be?” we invite curiosity and courage into the process, helping us take each step with confidence.
Finding Strength in Nature’s Gifts: Each essential oil—whether from roots, leaves, or blossoms—offers specific qualities that encourage calm and focus. cedarwood Atlas and black spruce help us stay grounded, lemon and peppermint clear mental fog, and lavender and neroli ease anxiety, allowing us to approach change with a calm heart.
The Power of a Simple Pause: Working with these oils reminds us to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. As we inhale their natural aromas, we create space to breathe, reflect, and move forward with renewed strength, clarity, and appreciation for each day’s journey.

Aromatic Creations
Each oil in this recipe brings unique beauty and strength. Sandalwood offers grounding, while vanilla bourbon adds warmth. Cardamom deepens and elevates, creating a sense of possibility, while Peppermint brings a cooling edge that cuts through hesitation and refreshes the mind. Breathe deeply, inviting this blend to dissolve barriers and open you to new experiences.
This blend is a call to courage, inspired by the spirit of “How Hard Can It Be?”—perfect for those days when you need a little nudge to break through whatever may be holding you back. It makes 1 fl oz (30 ml) of body oil. For each ingredient, I’ve suggested a few possible substitutions (in case you don’t have the main oil in your collection).
Ingredients:
Yield: 1 fl oz (30 ml)
1 fl oz (30 ml) Vanilla-Infused Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia chinensis)
4 drops Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album)
4 drops Cardamom Oil (Elettaria cardamomum)
2 drops Vanilla Bourbon CO2 Extract (Vanilla planifolia)
2 drops Peppermint Oil (Mentha × piperita)
Instructions:
Add the essential oils to a 1 fl oz (30 ml) amber or cobalt blue glass bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with vanilla-infused jojoba oil. Secure the lid and gently roll the bottle between your hands to blend thoroughly. Use as a personal fragrance on pulse points or apply sparingly as an uplifting body oil to inspire courage and clarity.
Bonus Aha Moment: This blend isn’t just for emotional strength—it’s a multitasking marvel! Each oil brings a unique synergy to support both your immune and digestive systems. Sandalwood and Cardamom offer antimicrobial and antiviral properties that discourage viruses, making this blend a powerful ally during cold and flu season. Cardamom and Peppermint also shine when it comes to digestive health, helping to soothe discomfort and promote balance.
Apply this blend to your chest to support your respiratory system or massage it onto your abdomen after meals for digestive relief. Feel grounded, protected, and nurtured with every use!

Q&A on Sandalwood Sustainability
Question: I’ve heard Sandalwood is endangered. Is it still safe to use?
Answer: The answer is yes! Sandalwood is a beautiful, revered part of aromatherapy, and it’s understandable to be cautious about sourcing.
Thankfully, farmers and distillers worldwide have stepped up to cultivate and protect various species.
Today, sustainably grown sandalwood is available in regions like Hawaii and Australia (which produce several species), and it is carefully regulated in parts of India, including the renowned Mysore sandalwood.
When choosing sandalwood, always check your sources for sustainable practices—and remember, a little goes a long way!
