The Comfort of Aroma When We’re Away from Home
The oils of Crete and blends that support us in distant places

Hello Friend!
The Sweet Ache of Missing Home
Today, Jenny and I are in Crete, surrounded by sunshine, sea views, and the earthy scent of herbs in the air. We’re having such a wonderful time connecting with fellow aromatherapists, herbalists, farmers, and distillers. It’s inspiring to share ideas, learn from others, and see how much heart and dedication go into this work around the world.
Still, somewhere between walking the olive groves in the morning and chatting over tea at night, I start to feel that familiar tug of home. I miss my animals, my favorite mug, and the simple comfort of my own space.
And even while I miss the familiar, I’m reminding myself to stay present and enjoy the moment right now. We’re soaking up every bit of this experience and finding small rituals that bring a sense of home wherever we are.
Essential oils, with their multidimensional ability to support both body and mind, help nurture grounding, bring clarity and peace, and gently dissolve the barriers that keep us from being fully present, making everything a little better.
I’ll share my comforting blend in Aromatic Creation below.

Aromatic Creations Recipe
Inspired by the soft wildness of Crete and the slight ache of missing home! This inhaler blend is a supportive companion for your immune system, your breath, and your sense of inner steadiness, especially when you’re far from your usual routines.
Essential Oils
5 drops Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens)
5 drops Thyme ct linalool Oil (Thymus vulgaris ct linalool)
5 drops Green Myrtle Oil (Myrtus communis)
Add the essential oils to the cotton wick of a personal inhaler. Assemble, label, and keep it close in your travel bag, your pocket, or by your bedside.
This blend is fresh and quietly comforting, with a hint of forest, a touch of herb garden, and a hint of the Mediterranean. It helps clear the breath and support immunity while offering a sense of structure when life feels displaced and the landscape is shifting.

Supporting Digestion with Essential Oils
There’s so much to “digest” in this in-depth blog! Read it with fresh eyes and find something that you find will help you as we move into the holiday season, a time when rich food is around every corner.
If you struggle with digestive issues, it can be a challenge. Different natural compounds in essential oils can interact with smooth muscle, digestive enzymes, and even the nervous system, helping the gut stay balanced and resilient.
While they don’t replace medical care when needed, many people find essential oils to be a gentle, plant-based complement for everyday digestive concerns.
In the blog, we explore:
How certain oils relax the GI tract to ease cramping and bloating.
Essential oils can encourage digestive juices and enzyme flow for better nutrient absorption.
Gentle liver and gallbladder support that makes heavy meals easier to handle.
Soothing comfort for the stomach lining and nausea.
The powerful connection between stress, the gut, and the calming aromas of essential oils.
When your mind feels safe, your body can finally shift into “rest and digest” mode, making oils a surprisingly effective ally for both body and spirit.
Product Spotlight
Thyme oil produces different chemotypes. One, Thyme ct thymol, is known for being strong and protective, but potentially irritating. This is its gentler cousin! Thyme ct linalool is soft and sweet. With its herbal, fresh, and slightly woody scent, thyme ct linalool offers all the protective qualities of thyme ct thymol, but with a softer touch for both the body and the senses, making it suitable for long-term use.
Steam distilled from certified organic plants grown in the bright fields of Spain, this variety is especially lovely when you’re looking for immune support that’s strong but not overwhelming. The natural presence of linalool (also found in lavender) brings a calming influence, helpful for steadying both energy and emotions.
Here’s some therapeutic goodness:
Strong enough to help fight germs
Gentle enough for skin and mucous membranes
Encourages a calm heart and steady energy
A beautiful travel companion to help keep the immune system strong
Useful in inhalers, diffusers, and topical blends, this thyme is also gentle enough for children ages 5–10.
From The Vine
During a recent presentation, Jenny gave for the Natural Living Club, someone asked a great question:
Q: How do you travel with essential oils?
A: This is such a practical question and one I love! My favorite way is to bring a small 5 ml stock blend that can be used for just about anything, from easing cold and flu symptoms to soothing pain or calming inflammation. I also like to pack one or two inhalers: one for sleep or anxiety, and another to help keep germs at bay during the flight.
And of course, my other favorite (and the reason they exist) are pre-blended roller bottles. At just 10 ml each, they’re easy to pack, incredibly versatile, and travel-friendly.
So with a stock blend, a few inhalers, and a couple of roller bottles, I feel completely prepared, and best of all, everything fits neatly into my carry-on.
Last week, I shared two of my favorite travel blends. When I make a full 1 fl oz (30 ml) blend, I usually skip the stock blend altogether. You can find them here:

I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.
Exposure to new cultures, people, and places transforms us from within, changing the way we see the world. For example, the moon is constant, appearing the same to everyone around the globe. Yet seeing it from another place reminds us that our experiences shape the way we perceive even the familiar.
